The Ikorodu Local Government chapter of the Tailors Association of Nigeria (TAN), on Thursday, inaugurated new executives across its five branches – Ayangburen, Temidire, Irewolede, Oke -Oriya and Ifakale, to strengthen its operations.
At the colourful ceremony held at the Chief Adeniran Ogunsanya’s compound, Oke -Ota Ona, Ikorodu, chieftains and members of the association also emphasised that TAN, which replaced the National Union of Tailors (NUT), has come to stay in Ikorodu.
The new executives were sworn -in by Chief Oluwole Salako Anibaba, member of the Board of Trustees, State TAN.

At the event, award of excellence were presented to Mr Hakuna Matata, Mr. Nasir Ganiu, Mr Sulaimon Oluwole Salako, Mr Hakeem Oluwasegun Oloyede, Mr Akeem Abiodun Adams, Mr Jamiu Aramide Orefuwa , Mr Isiaq Oluwasegun Mojeed , Mr Raheem Waliu Olaniyi, Mrs Sofowora Omolara Balikis , Mrs Oluwatosin Sanyolu, Mrs Odubena Anuoluwapo Shade, Mrs Kafayat Akinboye and Mrs Ogunadebo Olubukola Raliat
Three individuals were also honoured for their support for the association. While Pa. Abdulazeez Olayinka Awolate was honoured as the Alatileyin TAN Ikorodu LG; Pa. Isaac Ojeleke was honoured as the Grand Patron TAN Ikorodu, and Mrs Abiodun Hassan was decorated as the Iyalaje of TAN Ikorodu LG chapter

Mr Sulaimon Easy, Chairman, TAN Ikorodu LG, welcoming chieftains, guests and members to the inauguration ceremony, emphasised that the association has faced many challenges and thanked members for standing firm and committed to the association’s cause.
While stressing that TAN has provided members in Ikorodu a new path, he also added that it has resolved the issue of the identity clash with the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) which also uses the same acronym with Nigeria Union of Tailors (NUT), upon which they have been advised to change.
The Ikorodu branch chairman also stated that TAN has provided members a new and original identity.

He emphasised the importance of every tier of the association; from the zonal, branch , Local Government, State and the federal levels .
A member of the State Board of Trustees, Chief Oluwole Salako Anibaba, also speaking, appreciated branches of the association for their commitment and ensuring that TAN has firm roots across the state.
“I am very happy today and I want to extend my appreciation to all the branches because there is no effective operation without you. You are the ones making us proud, because, if there are no branches, there will be no us.

“It was like a dream when the journey started, but to God be the glory today. This year makes it the fourth year that the Tailor Association of Nigeria started in Ikorodu. So, we didn’t just start yesterday.
He emphasised that the association has come to stay in Ikorodu, and urged tailors to appreciate themselves and the importance of their profession.
Chief Anibaba also stated that the association is well recognized by notable people, including Senator Tokunbo Abiru and Rep. Babajimi Benson among others who have paid TAN its due recognition.

President, TAN Lagos State chapter, who doubled as the Chairman of the day, Comrade Taofeek Ayinde Apanishile, in his remarks, congratulated branches in Ikorodu and emphasised the need for progress and development in the association so that members can benefit and have reasons to continue to contribute.
He urged members to re-dedicate themselves to the development and progress of TAN.
Other chieftains and guests at the inauguration ceremony were the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Comrade (Chief) Gayinu Nasir, an elder of TAN, Pa Isaac Ojeleke and the Lady President TAN, Lagos State who was the Chairperson of the day, Comrade Oluwatoyin Adeniranye. Also, in attendance Prince Olamilekan Onikoyi Anjorin and Alhaji Oladapo Olawunmi.
